Margin is not profit

Margin is selling price minus buying price. Profit is margin minus everything else: travel, phone, packing, payment fees, free samples, returns and your time. Many reseller businesses look good on margin and lose money on profit.

A worked example

Say you sell 20 PVC NFC cards in a month. Trade price ₹150, selling price ₹249, margin about ₹99 each. Travel and phone costs ₹600, one demo kit you already own. Your profit is 20 × margin minus ₹600. Work it out with your own numbers before you start, and repeat it monthly.

What changes the maths

Volume per visit matters most: one company buying 25 cards beats 25 single sales. Repeat buyers cost almost nothing to win again. Discounts hurt more than they feel: a 20% discount can remove half your margin.

When referral is better

If your sales are small or your time is limited, a referral commission of 15% with no stock, no delivery and no invoices can earn you more per hour than reselling.

Track it

Keep a sheet with date, customer, items, price, cost and payment status. The Inditap partner dashboard shows your orders and commission, but your own costs are only in your sheet.

Questions people ask

What margin is good for a small reseller?

It depends on volume and effort. Small products need either high margin or high volume to be worth the time.

Should I hold stock?

Only a demo kit at first. Order customer stock once they pay.

Do I need to pay to join the Inditap partner programme?

No. Applying, the course and your partner link are free. Resellers only pay for the cards they order at trade price, when they have a customer or want a demo card.

How and when are partners paid?

Commission is added to your partner ledger when an order is paid and not cancelled. Payouts go to your UPI or bank account once a month after the return window closes.
