The short answer
An NFC business card is a normal-looking card with a tiny NFC chip inside. NFC means near-field communication, the same technology used for tap-to-pay. When someone holds the card near their phone, the phone reads a web link from the chip and opens it. That link is your digital profile, with your number, WhatsApp, email, website and social links.
Which phones work with it?
iPhone XS and newer read NFC cards automatically when the screen is on. Most Android phones from the last few years support NFC; it is usually on by default or in the quick settings. For phones without NFC, the QR code on the back of the card opens the same page with the camera.
Does the other person need an app?
No. The phone opens your profile in its normal browser. They can save your contact with one tap.
What can you put on it?
Anything with a link: your contact card, website, Google review page, UPI payment, Instagram, a menu or a brochure. With Inditap, the chip points to your Inditap page, so you can change what it shows anytime without rewriting the card.
Is it secure?
The chip only holds a web link, not personal data, and it cannot read anything from the other person's phone. It works only at a distance of about 2 to 4 cm, so it cannot be read from across a room.
Questions people ask
How far does NFC work?
About 2 to 4 cm. The card must be held close to the top back of an iPhone or the middle back of most Android phones.
Does NFC need battery or charging?
No. The card has no battery. The phone powers the chip when it is held close.
